To make your camping or travel as easy as possible and to reduce the number of items to take along you can prepare many dishes or portions of a dish at home. Cut out the portion of the recipe in the green boxes below and tape onto individual storage containers so you'll know what to do to finish the dish. I've found that covering the entire label with clear packing tape works well to protect the labels from smudging if they get wet.
The following menus are for a Friday afternoon through Sunday evening trip. There are no breakfast recipes for the first day since that's the day you'll most likely eat breakfast at home before hitting the road.
Menus and recipes are given to you in two different ways. If you'll be preparing ahead go to Preparing & Packing Recipes for labels, recipes and instructions. If you'll be preparing everything while camping/traveling go to Camp & Travel Recipes.
Fogdog Sports is a highly rated on-line resource for sporting equipment and apparel. Their excellent search engine makes it easy to find what you want. Go to the Outdoor Department, then use the menu column on the far left side of the page to find the outdoor kitchen equipment you need.
Buying pre-packaged, cut vegetables is a lot more costly than selecting pre-cut and washed veggies from a bin. Of course, least expensive is buying them whole and washing and cutting them yourself.
Choose corned beef (3 ounces contains 90 calories) instead of pastrami (176 calories per 3 ounce serving).
