The Power of Living Foods

Winter Detox Menu

Why Detox?

Detoxing will give you a jump start towards cleansing yourself of all the junk you've eaten over the years, help you to lose weight more quickly, and once your body is free of toxins and waste you'll find that cravings for things that are unhealthy or detrimental to your UnDiet will disappear or at least be much easier to divert to something healthy.

Because I sometimes drink wine with dinner and occasionally let Nacho Cheese Doritoes pass my lips I detox for one week, four times a year. I'm still researching the whole subject of detoxification and may find that I can avoid beginning detox with 3 days of Fruit only, but as of now it's the really the best way to begin a detox. If that doesn't sound too much like deprivation to you, go ahead and do it - you'll definitely give yourself a major head start on the road to health and weight loss. Besides you'll get such a lift both mentally and physically that you may find yourself looking forward to your Spring detox.

I recommend the detox recipes also when you're not feeling well. They give your body a chance to rest, to focus on healing and not on digesting, assimilating, and eliminating foods. For the first 1-3 days of illness you might even want to stick with Fruit only, then move on to some of the vegetable dishes. If you don't feel like eating salads, which I never feel like eating when I'm not feeling good, you can skip them and just have the cooked vegetable dishes along with Fruit.

The Winter Detox Diet

Avoid:

What you should be eating are fresh Fruits and vegetables. Try to eat as few cooked vegetables as possible, but that's hard to do when the weather is cold - so if you want to wait until your Spring detox to go full tilt don't worry about it.

Don't worry about portions, eat as much as you need to feel satisfied. Although if you're detoxing because you're not feeling well it's best to eat lightly. If you really want to eat more wait at least 20 minutes to give your stomach a chance to let your brain  know if it really is hungry.

You'll save twelve cents a pound when you purchase pasta in plastic bags instead of boxes.

Tips & Tricks

To warm something up that's been in the fridge or freezer and still preserve the live enzymes, heat some water until hot but not boiling. Remove water from heat source and place food in water in sealed container (a ziplock baggie works fine if the food isn't already in a container).

Step-By-Step

  1. Weigh yourself.
  2. Print recipes and menu plan.
  3. Make up a shopping list for the recipes you'll be using.
  4. Shop for and prepare each meal.
  5. At the end of the week (but not before) weigh yourself again.
  6. Now with the loss of a few pounds under your belt you're ready to move onto the next Step, New Research Update
