Houses & Castles

Use a large cardboard box to make houses and/or castles for the children in your life. Cut windows and doors from the box. Decorate with paint, staple fabric to windows for curtains, place an old rug on the floor, use your imagination!

Indoor Sled

Punch two holes about 2 inches from top of a large cardboard box about 4-inches apart. Thread a piece of rope through each hole and tie a knot on the inside of the box to hold the rope in place. One child can sit in the box while another child or adult uses the rope to drag the box over a carpet, packed snow or wet grass. Caution: box will eventually fall apart when dragged over wet landscape.

Firmer Thighs Using Plastic Ball

A soft plastic ball such as a soccer or beach ball is great for toning your inner-thighs. Hold the ball between your knees while sitting close to the edge of your chair. Squeeze your legs together and hold for a count of ten. Do double-duty by doing this while you’re sitting at your desk working or while watching television.

Sea Urchin Balls

These balls are great for indoor games and outdoor water fights.

Using scissors cut used carpet padding into a 1 square foot piece, then cut the square into twenty-four ½-inch wide strips. Cut each strip in half to make forty-eight 6-inch strips.

Stack the strips centered over a twist tie laying flat on a hard, stable surface. Tightly twist the tie around the center of the stack. Pull, twist and turn the strips until you have a ball.
